For some patients, surgery can be avoided with use of a nail bracing technology called Onyfix. This German-made treatment involves the application of a strip of a composite material over the top of the nail. This material is adhered to the nail and stays on for 3-6 months. The strip creates a pulling mechanism on the sides of the nails and reduces compression of the nail into the sides.
