Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy as a treatment has existed since the 1990s. It has become more commonplace within allied health clinics as a treatment of musculoskeletal conditions over the last 10-15 years.

Some of the more common conditions that we treat with shockwave therapy include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Achilles Tendonitis

These are the most common, however shockwave therapy is useful in treating most lower limb musculoskeletal conditions.

It works by creating a high energy acoustic soundwave pulse of energy into the part of the body that we hold the handpiece against. This creates a multitude of effects on the site of treatment including increased blood flow, reduction of inflammation, and release of tight musculature and trigger points.

This treatment can be mildly uncomfortable during the consultation, however patients will often feel a result as they leave the clinic, and these results are compounded over a few sessions to ensure long lasting results.

If you are interested in receiving shockwave therapy, please contact us for an appointment and we will be able to determine if it would be a good treatment for your condition.
